Richard Davenport
Music Director
Richard L. Davenport has been a music educator for 36 years and was recently appointed
as Director of Bands at Deane Bozeman School in Bay County. He also serves as an
Adjunct Professor of Music at the Baptist University of Florida in Graceville. Richard
has served as bi-vocational Worship leader in many area churches over his career and
was most recently active in the music ministry at First Baptist Church Chipley.
Mr. Davenport earned his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Science in
Educational Leadership Degrees from Florida State University. He is a Past-President of
the Florida Bandmasters Association, and is active as a band adjudicator, adjudicator
trainer, and honor band clinician throughout the southeast. He was recently selected to be
inducted into the FBA Hall of Fame.
Richard and his wife Tanya have two children and one granddaughter. Son Richard is a
civil engineer married to Heather, who teaches at Bonifay K-8. Daughter Jenny is a
senior Music Industry Major at Troy University.
